Broadcasting Techniques, especially Digital TV and Radio Broadcasting
Paul Lawson has had a long and successful career with the ABC in almost all facets of radio and TV broadcasting. Paul presently holds a senior National Technical Management position based in Sydney but works mostly out of Adelaide. Paul is also well known to many radio hams and has been involved with many amateur radio activities over the years. Paul has agreed to tell us about the range of broadcasting techniques presently in use throughout the ABC's National Australian Broadcasting Network. He will also introduce us to digital radio broadcasting that is presently on trial inter-state and is about to be officially introduced into Australia shortly - in fact, digital broadcasting should be on trial in Adelaide by the time Paul speaks to us. He expects to be able to demonstrate a DRM HF system on the night that he says will simply amaze us at the lack of fading, adjacent channel interference and phase distortion that normally is associated with HF broadcasting. Paul's talks are always very entertaining. |
